Guidelines for Submission

Al-Wafaa News, which celebrated its eleventh anniversary in January, 2001, is an independent quarterly newsletter. Since January, 1990, articles on a variety of subjects were published on technology, history, politics, religion, art, music and poetry as well as a series of articles on Arab professional personalities (focusing on women) and minority religions within the Middle East.

In the Fall, 1994, Al-Wafaa News became the quarterly newsletter of the Institute of Near Eastern & African Studies (INEAS).  This arrangement continued all through the Summer of 1997 when INEAS started its own quarterly newsletter (INEAS News) and Al-Wafaa News became an independent entity. Wafaa' Salman is the editor of both quarterly newsletters.

Al-Wafaa News included reports from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Washington DC, Illinois, California, Michigan, Virginia, England, France, Jordan, Tunisia and Iraq and will continue to report from abroad whenever possible.

We are committed to expanding and enhancing the newsletter's contents and contacts with diverse communities and writers locally, nationally and internationally and to improving our coverage on Arabic language, literature, poetry, art and music as well as featuring Arab, Middle Eastern and Muslim personalities in the above fields.

Submissions of articles should be typed and double-spaced.  We also accept work on disks (see computer guidelines). Viewpoints and reviews should be four pages or fewer; reports and interviews, five pages or less; scholarly research, up to six pages including a list of sources used; letters, no more than a page and a half. Please submit up to three poems at a time.
